Please I need help with the second assignment in lesson 2 on post, page, and category
James and IBC1 CommentHello!
Thank you for your message. Let’s go through everything step by step:
Pages and categories/tags
Pages in WordPress do not have categories or tags. These features are only available for posts. So, you don’t need to worry about assigning categories or tags to your About or Contact pages.
Pages not showing on the website
Unlike posts, pages won’t automatically show on your website after creation. To make them visible, you need to manually add them to your site’s navigation. Here’s how:
Go to Appearance > Menus in your WordPress dashboard.
Select the menu (either the main menu or footer menu) where you want these pages to appear.
Add your About and Contact pages to the menu and save it. Once that’s done, the pages should appear on your site.
Subcategory showing before the main category
If the subcategory is showing first, it might be due to how your categories are organized. Check your settings by going to Posts > Categories and confirm the hierarchy. If the subcategory is listed before the main category, drag and drop it to the correct place. Also, make sure that when you’re assigning categories to a post, you’re selecting both the main category and the subcategory properly.
Editing the section where the author’s name is shown
The section that displays the author’s name is part of your theme settings. To edit this:
Go to Appearance > Customize and look for the Blog/Posts section or Post Meta settings (this depends on your theme).
There should be an option to hide or edit the author name display. If you can’t find this option, check your theme’s documentation or contact the theme’s support for guidance on how to edit or hide the author’s name.
